xClearview's OrangeStorm Giga enclosure is a designed from scratch, specifically tailor fit, enclosure for the Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga, addons that take the OrangeStrom Giga to the next level.
We have completed the Orangestorm Giga enclosure fitment. The kit comes with a variety of options for panels and attachments. Panels on each side are a split, two panel configuration for easier shipping. Basis of the design can be seen in the interactive model below.
- We are not offing BOM, STL, dxfs, or any other derivative kits other than what is available here.
- The sides, back, and top panels are split into 2 halves to make them shippable. We aren't offering them a single panel.
- We are no longer offering kits in thinner 1/8" panel thickness. We are no longer offering just the door kit.
- Wheels/Casters are not included with the enclosure kit.
Our ELEGOO OrangeStorm Giga Enclosure panel sets are CNC cut panels of clear transparent Acrylic panels or solid PVC 6mm thickness. These are cut to the dimensions and specifications from ELEGOO OrangeStorm Giga. We cut our panels on a professional quality cnc router with professional cutting hardware. The top panel also includes an extra supporting extrusion for stability and strength.
The panels set has options for great accessories like cutouts for our air filters, exhaust options, and LED lighting, and more.
Clearview's enclosure kit can be ordered as just a door set if you want to set up your own top, side, and rear panels.
Q&A:
The video discussed DIYing a taller shim on top to increase z-height clearance. Can you clarify - does this kit affect max print height on a standard 1 toolhead OrangeStorm giga?
The taller shim is going to be printed on your own regardless if you pick the printed parts kit. The lower profile shim gives clearance up to a z height of 1000mm. The machine allows for ~1100mm. If you need the additional 100mm to max out the Z, you'll want to print the taller shim. The can be done at anytime down the road as well.
Does the 1/8" pvc have the same issue as the 1/8" acrylic? potential breakage, warping, durability?
The PVC material doesn't break nearly as easy. The bottom panels That are anchored to the base are what are mostly susceptible to break if they were stressed. The PVC would crease and fold instead of breaking. One other factor on the thinner 1/8" panels is the thermal expansion. When the machine heats up this will make the panels expand. We accounted for this in a few ways with sizing and we include adhesive angle pieces that anchor the panels to the frame. However, the 1/8" panels do deflect more when heat is introduced. Our adhesive anchors are there to help reinforce this, but do anticipate the thermal expansion.
What should I know about setting up the filament spools and filament paths for my single or multi head machine?
We suggest feeding your filament in from the top of the printer. Our 1/4" panels are strong enough to support a 5kg spool or 4 separate 1kg spools in a simple filament drier. (If want more spools or multiple 5kg spools, add some support to distribute the weight). The Orange Storm Giga has cutouts for wiring grommets on the top panel next to each (4 of the filament sensor wire points. The grommet can be used to feed in your bowden tube and filament. There is an additional grommet on the back panel as well. AT the moment, we don't have specific solution to attach the filament sensors via these grommets, but we will work to complete a solution. Our current idea is to extend the filament sensor wires reroute them outside the top panel so they can be affixed to the filament drier or spool holder.
