CO2 or fiber
Two lasers, because no single wavelength does both jobs.
A CO2 laser’s long wavelength is absorbed well by organic materials and plastics and reflected by bare metal. A fiber laser’s much shorter wavelength couples into metal. So the material picks the laser, and a shop with only one of them turns half the work away or does it badly.

What never goes under our lasers
A shop that will laser anything is a shop you should not send parts to.
PVC and vinyl
Lasering PVC releases hydrogen chloride: it corrodes the machine and is a real health hazard. PVC is routed or blade-cut, never lasered.
Polycarbonate
Chars and yellows under a CO2 beam. We route it to shape and mark it by UV printing instead.
HDPE
Melts rather than vaporizes, and is a fire risk. Routed only.
Cutting metal
The fiber laser marks and engraves metal; it is not a metal-cutting laser. Metal blanks and tags are bought cut, then marked here.

Directional, informational and equipment signs in engraving plastic or acrylic. Room identification signs that need raised characters and braille are not something we make.

Straight answers.
Can you laser engrave metal?
Yes, on a 30 W fiber laser: anodized aluminum, stainless steel and brass. On stainless and brass the mark is formed in the metal itself, so there is no ink or coating to wear, fade or dissolve; on anodized aluminum it sits in the anodic layer. The fiber laser marks and engraves; it does not cut metal parts to shape.
Can you engrave serial numbers or codes from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Send Excel or CSV with one row per part. Text, sequential numbers, QR codes and Data Matrix codes are generated from that file, so nothing is retyped. We mark the codes; we do not grade them to ISO/IEC 15415 or certify MIL-STD-130 UID marking.
Can I send you my parts to be marked?
Yes. Tell us the material, the part size, the quantity and where the mark goes. We build a nest fixture so each part sits in the same place under the beam, run a test mark on a sample, and ship the parts back marked.
Can you laser-cut or engrave PVC?
No. Lasering PVC or vinyl releases hydrogen chloride, which corrodes laser optics and machinery and is a health hazard. We route PVC on the CNC instead. Polycarbonate and HDPE are routed too.
Do you make ADA room signs?
Not the tactile kind. Under the 2010 ADA Standards, signs that identify permanent rooms and spaces need raised characters and braille, and we do not make tactile signs. We do make directional, informational and equipment signs; directional and informational signs still follow the visual-character rules (contrast, non-glare finish, character size), and we lay them out to those.
What is the minimum order?
$200, quantity one and up, with no tooling charge. Businesses pay by card or ACH at order; government agencies and schools can order on a purchase order with net terms on orders of $3,000 or more.
