Why Choose XTool D1 Enclosure?
Laser engraving involves the production of smoke, soot, and fumes that can pose health risks. Many laser engraver manufacturers do not include enclosures, making it a challenging and expensive add-on. Our enclosure is specifically designed to contain and mitigate these hazards effectively. By incorporating an exhaust port, it offers optimal fume containment. If you plan to engrave indoors, the XTool D1 enclosure is a necessary upgrade to ensure a safe working environment.
What to Expect:
Our enclosure is precisely tailored for the XTool D1 laser engraver. The CNC-cut panels ensure accurate sizing, while the 3D-printed brackets provide a secure fit. Rust-resistant hardware is included for longevity. While in use, the enclosure effectively contains a significant portion of fumes and smoke when used alongside an appropriate exhaust setup. Over time, some soot may accumulate on the laser and enclosure, necessitating occasional cleaning. For a more robust and professional feel, we recommend opting for the thicker panels.
Rad Features of Our Enclosure:
Our enclosure offers special features commonly found in professional-grade lasers. The laser filtering acrylics, with their amber color, substantially reduce light flashing into the room, resulting in an improved operating experience. Assembly is hassle-free and only requires a screwdriver and allen wrench. The panels are designed to fit snugly around the frame while providing ample height to accommodate the rotary and extension accessories. Convenient ports at the base allow easy insertion of sheet substrates, facilitating fast material changes and enabling tiling of jobs for infinite length projects.

~~Q&A updates~~
Do the laser filtering panels mean I don't need to wear those amazingly rad safety glasses?
No, While the panels filter UV light at the wavelength that diode lasers operate at, we still suggest you wear those sexy safety glasses.
What is or is not included?
Generally speaking, if you pick the minimum price kit it include acrylic panels and hardware, and you 3D print the brackets and parts. If you choose to include 3Dprinted parts you will have everything you need to set up the enclosure, but you'll need to add your own exhaust fan and hose. We consider this a complete operating kit and the remaining customizations are optional. In all cases you will need to supply a 4" dryer hose to exhaust fumes to the window.
Will your XTool enclosure allow enough vertical space to use the rotary too also?
Yes! The inside height of the enclosure is 11.75" With feet attached and laser head fully articulated up there is just enough room. We also developed an easy to attach wire lead that helps prevent the laser head wires from bushing on the enclosure lid. In all, this should give enough clearance for engraving onto an 80mm glass or tumbler.
Do you Ship internationally?
Yes. The shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout. We ship using USPS/UPS/Fedex with an HS code of 8538.10. Shipping prices with express shipping services often cover import fees and bonds however additional fees, VAT, and other tariffs maybe charged.
What is your timeline?
We are shipping Preorder by January 15th or sooner.
Do the Laser filtering panels allow me to stare at the laser?
No. Independent testing shows the laser filtering panels block wavelengths up to 520nm (desktop Diodes operate at 445nm). However, it is never safe to look directly at the laser. Proper eye protection should be worn when you laser is in use. If you need and enclosure that meets ANSI, ASTM, or OSHA guidelines please contact us.
Does the enclosure have an exhaust port to clear smoke and fumes?
Our enclosure includes an exhaust bracket and is great way to keep the smoke and smell contained. The powered fan that is included will help a hobbyist reduce the fumes when you use a 4 inch exhaust hose outside.
What is the purpose of the Universal Laser Engraver Enclosure Kit V3?
The enclosure is designed to contain and extract fumes (e.g., VOCs and particulates) produced during laser engraving, protecting your workspace and improving air quality. It is compatible with optional BOFA PrintPRO 3 filtration for effective fume control. This enclosure is not intended for laser safety or to reduce the laser’s classification.
Does this enclosure comply with ANSI Z136.1 laser safety standards?
No, this enclosure does not comply with ANSI Z136.1-2007 and is not designed to reduce a Class 4 laser to Class 1. It is for fume extraction only. Users must follow Class 4 laser safety protocols, including wearing appropriate OD-rated safety glasses for the laser’s wavelength (e.g., 450 nm).
Can I operate my laser without safety glasses using this enclosure?
No, you must wear appropriate OD-rated safety glasses for your laser’s wavelength and power (e.g., OD5 or higher for 450 nm diode lasers). This enclosure does not provide sufficient laser radiation protection to eliminate the need for eyewear.
How does the enclosure handle fumes from laser engraving?
The enclosure supports fume extraction with an a powered exhaust or filter system , reducing VOCs and particulates to safe levels can be accomplished with proper air flow and when properly installed. Ensure adequate room ventilation (4–6 air changes per hour) or external venting per local codes.
What safety precautions should I take?
Wear OD-rated safety glasses for your laser’s wavelength.
Use the optional BOFA PrintPRO 3 or external ventilation to control fumes.
Do not open the enclosure during laser operation.
Ensure a laser safety officer (LSO) evaluates your setup, per ANSI Z136.1.
Follow all manufacturer instructions for your laser and local safety regulations.
What is your return Policy?
We have a 30 day return policy. Unused, undamaged panels that still have the masking fully attached are eligible for a full refund less return shipping. If panels are damaged (after shipment) or the protective mask layer has been removed, we cannot offer a refund. For best results in ensuring fitment and to ensure you like the setup of our enclosures consider at least partially assembling with the mask on. If you find out it isn't for you, this allows to get the return for a full refund.
