The problem you are already paying for

The white sliver on the edge comes from two vendors who never shared a file.

A printed, shaped acrylic part has two coordinate systems that have to agree: where the ink lands and where the cut runs. When a print shop prints the sheet and a plastics shop cuts it, you become the integrator. You carry one vendor’s bleed, the other’s kerf, both lead times, and the courier between them. The mismatch shows up as a white sliver on one edge of a display that was supposed to bleed to the cut — or a hole that lands a sixteenth off the printed border.

Under one roof, one vector file drives both machines. The cut path and the artwork share an origin. That is the whole difference, and it is why this is one job, not two.

How the print lands where the cut says

Two ways to hold registration. We pick the one your part needs.

Path A

Cut first, print in a jig

The router cuts your blanks and a registration jig from the same DXF. Blanks drop into the jig on the flatbed; the print file shares the origin. Registration error is the jig’s clearance, not a guess. This is the path for graphics that bleed to a cut edge, printed borders, printed edges on thick stock, and all second-surface work.

Print first, cut to fiducials

The flatbed prints your nested artwork plus registration marks on a full sheet. The router or laser locates the marks and cuts every outline. This is the fast path for short runs of simple shapes — shelf talkers, tags, standees — where dozens of parts come off one sheet.

The durable version

Second-surface printing

On clear acrylic or polycarbonate we print the artwork mirrored on the back, then flood white behind it. You look at the graphic through the sheet. The material is the protective layer, the color sits under a polished face, and the part reads with depth that a surface print never has. This is what we run for anything that lives on a retail floor or a machine.

Capabilities

What is on the floor.

UV flatbed printing Mimaki JFX200-2513. Print area 2,500 × 1,300 mm (98.4 × 51.2 in), media to 50 mm (2 in) thick, 300–1,200 dpi, LED-UV cured. CMYK with a white flood coat as standard; white-and-varnish ink sets for production runs. Multilayer in one pass: color over white, white over color, second-surface, spot varnish.
CNC routing AXYZ 4012 router, sheets up to 5 × 10 ft. Contour cutting, pocketing, drilling, countersinks, slots and tabs for flat-pack assembly, scored fold lines, registration jigs.
Laser cutting & engraving CO2 lasers, 50 × 36 in bed, for fine-detail acrylic cutting with a flame-polished edge straight off the machine, engraving and mask scoring. Fiber laser for permanent marking on anodized aluminum and stainless tags.
3D-printed parts Brackets, standoffs, clips, feet, cable-routing and adapter parts printed in-house from the same file set as the cut path, so a printed acrylic panel mounts to whatever it has to mount to. Also the fast route for a fit-check part before a run.
Materials Cast acrylic (clear, frosted P95, colors, black, white), polycarbonate, aluminum composite (ACM), expanded PVC, HDPE, Baltic birch and hardwood plywood. Customer-supplied stock on request.
Finishing Flame-polished or sanded edges, mask left on for shipping, hardware and standoffs installed, sub-assembly and solvent bonding for displays that ship assembled.

1  Send

Artwork, cut path, material, thickness, quantity, and where it ships. Use the quote form or email the files.

2  Quote

One number for the finished part, within a business day. If the file needs work before it will cut cleanly, we say so up front.

3  Proof

A PDF proof with the cut path drawn over the artwork. You approve it before a sheet is loaded. This is where registration gets checked for free.

4  Ship

Printed, cut, finished, masked and packed flat. Tracking sent the day it leaves. Blind-shipped for trade accounts.

File preparation

Send it like this and the quote comes back faster.

Artwork

Vector PDF, AI or EPS at 1:1 scale. Fonts outlined. Raster images embedded at 150–300 ppi at final size. CMYK; tell us any brand colors by Pantone and we match on the proof.

Cut path

A separate layer named CutContour, or a DXF at 1:1 in inches or millimeters — say which. Include holes, slots and score lines on their own layers.

Bleed and margins

Extend artwork 0.125 in (3 mm) past every cut edge. Keep text and fine detail 0.125 in inside the cut edge and 0.25 in from any hole.

White and clear ink

Put white on a spot-color layer named White and spot varnish on Clear. For second-surface work, send the art as you want it seen; we mirror it.

Send a sketch with dimensions and your logo. We do the CAD and print prep and put it on the quote as a line item, so you see exactly what it costs before we start.

Questions we get

Straight answers.

Will the print scratch?

Surface-printed UV ink on acrylic will mark under abrasion, the same as any printed surface. For parts that get handled or live on a machine we print second-surface behind clear stock, so the sheet is the wear layer. A clear-ink flood is the option when the graphic has to be on the face. Tell us how the part lives and we will spec the right one.

Is there a minimum order?

$200 minimum order. No plate, screen or tooling charge. Setup is a line on the quote, so a one-off costs what a one-off costs and a run of 300 gets the per-piece number.

Can you print on my material?

Usually. Rigid, flat, under 2 inches thick and under the bed’s weight limit. Send a sample if it is something we have not listed; adhesion on some surfaces needs a primer pass and we test before quoting.

Do you do coasters, keychains, small promotional items?

That is desktop-printer work and there are a thousand shops for it. We take the promotional jobs that need a full sheet and a router: oversized checks, event pieces, custom-shape standees, dimensional recognition walls.

Outdoor, UL, chemical resistance?

We state what we have tested and nothing else. Second-surface acrylic and polycarbonate parts hold up well indoors and in light-duty industrial environments. If your application needs a rated overlay or an outdoor-weathering spec, tell us and we will either test to it or tell you who to call.

Do you install?

No. Everything ships flat or as a pre-assembled unit with mounting hardware and a drawing. Your installer or your customer’s facilities team puts it up.
