The arm decides whether a PrintPRO 3 captures anything. The filter stack only cleans the air that reaches it, and air only reaches it when the inlet sits where the emissions start: at the hot end and the freshly laid layer. A stay-put arm holds the position you set, print after print, instead of sagging back to wherever the hose wants to lie.
This is the genuine Donaldson BOFA 50mm ESD stay-put arm with nozzle, part number A1020047. It is the same 50mm format as the PrintPRO 3's inlet and hose kit. Use it to replace a cracked or lost arm, or to add a second capture point on a printer one arm can't cover.
Local exhaust works on capture velocity, and capture velocity collapses with distance. The DallaValle equation in the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation manual, the reference ventilation engineers design hoods from, puts the air speed one diameter in front of a plain round opening at less than a tenth of the speed at its face. On a 50mm nozzle, the gap between pulling the plume and stirring the room is measured in inches. An arm that stays where you put it is how the nozzle stays inside that distance.
Arm and nozzle only. Bench mounting hardware is not included. BOFA sells it as the 50mm table bracket (A1020051) or the complete single-arm installation kit with bracket and mounting plate (A1020024). If you are replacing an arm, your existing bracket and hose carry over.
The nozzle concentrates airflow into a tight opening: the fastest air right at the tip, best when the arm can sit close to one source. The arm that ships in the PrintPRO 3 box carries a conical funnel, which presents a wider mouth. If you want a like-for-like replacement for the original, the funnel version is BOFA A1020045. Ask and we will quote it.
The PrintPRO 3 is designed for enclosed and partially enclosed printers, and that is where an arm does its best work. The enclosure gives the plume one place to go. The arm decides where it leaves.
