Running FDM 3D printers in a workplace, school, makerspace, or lab? OSHA, NIOSH, and state regulators expect documented safety procedures — not just good intentions. This document pack gives you the professionally written safety framework your facility needs, ready to customize for your specific equipment and environment.
Developed by Clearview Plastics, the industry leader in 3D printer enclosures and workplace safety solutions since 2008.
1. Workplace Safety & Compliance Package
Your core safety document — 18 sections covering hazard identification, engineering controls, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, emergency response, operator training checklists, ventilation calculations, and incident reporting. Includes complete filament hazard matrix with VOC profiles and OSHA PEL reference tables for ABS, ASA, Nylon, PETG, PLA, PC, TPU, and carbon/glass fiber composites.
2. Room Readiness Guide
Pre-installation checklist covering space requirements, electrical specifications, ventilation routing, fire safety, temperature/humidity targets, and workstation layout. Complete this before your equipment arrives to avoid costly rework and ensure your facility meets requirements from day one.
3. Maintenance & Inspection Guide
Ongoing compliance documentation with scheduled inspection tables, ventilation system maintenance procedures, air quality verification guidance, cleaning protocols, troubleshooting, and a 6-month fillable inspection log. OSHA requires maintenance records be kept for a minimum of 3 years — this document keeps you organized and audit-ready.
All three documents are delivered as editable .docx files. Fill in your facility name, equipment models, and specific operating parameters in the clearly marked fields. Print, file, and present to your EHS department, safety auditor, or facility inspector.
This is a baseline category-level document pack applicable to FDM/FFF printers from all major manufacturers — Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Anycubic, Ultimaker, Stratasys, and others. Machine-specific versions with pre-filled specifications are available separately.
These documents are provided as an informational safety framework and do not constitute legal advice, regulatory certification, or a guarantee of compliance. Employers must verify that all recommendations align with current federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations. See full disclaimer within each document.
