The Flashforge CJ270 ships its first units on October 15, 2026. Our enclosure for it is being designed around the machine, not around a spec sheet, so dimensions and price go up when we have measured hardware in front of us. This page is here so you can see the reasoning and get told when it's ready.
The CJ270 jets liquid photopolymer resin through seven inkjet heads and cures it with UV light as it builds. Flashforge's own guidance puts a 10 cm model at roughly 15 hours and a 15 cm model at 25 hours or more. That is a resin process running on a desk, largely unattended, often overnight, in a room somebody works in.
The machine ships with a shell and a built-in activated carbon filter. Flashforge describes that filter as helping reduce odors and airborne particles generated during printing. That is the machine looking after itself, and it is a different job from looking after the room the machine sits in. A shell holds heat. It does not hold air.
This enclosure is being designed to contain what comes off the CJ270, so a filter can absorb it or a duct can carry it out of the room. It sets over the printer — no fabrication, no drilling, no modification to the machine.
It is photopolymer, not filament. MultiJet Printing builds with UV-curable acrylate resins — the same chemistry family as UV inkjet ink, not the same as a spool of PLA. The exposure worth thinking about is not the finished model. It is everything that stays uncured: what the nozzles purge, what sits on the plate, the cleaning fluid the ink-path cleaning function drains, and the support material that comes off in the rinse. Uncured acrylates are documented skin sensitizers and irritants, which is why every manufacturer in this category puts gloves and ventilation in the manual.
The built-in filter is scoped to the machine. An activated carbon element inside a desktop printer is sized for the volume of that printer. Flashforge is careful to say it helps reduce odors and airborne particles — that is honest wording for a consumer-grade carbon filter, and it is not a claim about the air in a classroom, a studio, or a spare bedroom. An enclosure gives you somewhere to put a filter or a duct that is sized for the room instead.
Post-processing is the wet half of the job. Water-soluble support means a soak tank, usually an ultrasonic cleaner, and rinse water carrying dissolved support and uncured resin. Optional finishing adds a gloss coat and a UV cure. That is a second workstation with its own handling and waste questions, and it deserves the same discipline as the printer.
Seven-micron layers and fine nozzles. Jetting at 7 µm depends on nozzles staying clear. Airborne dust in an open room is working against that every hour the machine runs. A contained box is a cleaner box.
Where these machines land. Flashforge is pointing the CJ270 at education, design studios, and R&D groups. On a shared bench, a photopolymer machine comes with questions from whoever signs off on it: what is the hazard assessment, what is the written operating procedure, and what is the ventilation plan. Containment is the part of that answer you can buy.

The enclosure's job is to contain. The filter or the duct does the rest. Contained and concentrated in a box, fumes and smells can be absorbed by a carbon filter or carried out of the room through a hose. Loose in the air, they cannot be. Open the inlet covers so the exhaust has air to move — closed inlets choke the airflow.
