We cut plastic panels for a living, so here is ours — thirty inches of interior height, sized for the big converters.

What it is for

A 20 kHz probe at full amplitude is a high-frequency screech that empties a shared room. It is an occupancy problem before it is a hearing problem: the person three benches away stops working. Second job — probe sonication of biological samples generates aerosol, and a closed box with a latched door is the standard engineering control.

How it works, mechanically

Two mechanisms in series. Mass blocks transmission through the panel. Absorption — open-cell foam across the interior — kills the reverberant buildup that would otherwise leak straight back out through the seams. Neither works without the other, and neither works at all if the box leaks.

Where these usually fail, and what we do about it

Seam leakage. A bracket-and-panel enclosure has continuous seams, and an unsealed seam hands you a fraction of the reduction you paid for. Every joint gets closed-cell gasket tape, and the door gets a compression latch, not a magnet — a magnet holds a door shut, it does not pull it into a gasket. That detail decides whether the product works.

If you need a verified attenuation figure for an EHS file, buy from a vendor who has tested and published one. We are not going to invent a number to win an order.
