Thirty inches across, twin exhaust ports, and enough depth to run a benchtop reflow oven with room to stage boards next to it. This is the version for a bench that is doing real volume rather than occasional repair.

Why this matters more than people treat it

Rosin-based solder flux fume is a recognised cause of occupational asthma — the UK's Health and Safety Executive regulates it specifically, with dedicated guidance for electronics soldering. Sensitisation is permanent, which is what separates this from an odour nuisance. A benchtop reflow oven adds its own load: a full board's worth of flux volatilising in one cycle, released all at once when the door opens.

The practical case is just as real. Smoke across the field of view causes bridges and cold joints because you cannot see the pad. Flux residue films optics, tweezers and tips.

What ships

Straight talk about what this does

This hood contains the plume and gives it a path out. It is not a certified fume hood: no ANSI/ASHRAE 110, no SEFA 9, and no capture-efficiency, airflow or health claims from us. Ducted outside it moves fume out of your breathing zone; with a consumer-tier carbon filter it reduces fumes and smells. Regulated substances need certified lab furniture, and we will point you there rather than oversell this.

Two things to know

ESD. Standard acrylic is not static-dissipative. On an ESD-controlled bench that matters — run this alongside an ionizer, or tell us what the bench handles and we will tell you honestly whether this is the right hood for it.

Heat. A reflow oven needs its own clearance and ventilation per its manufacturer. We size the hood around it; we do not change what the oven needs. Send us the model.
