Clearview Plastics · xTool X1 Supplemental Enclosure
The xTool X1 is fully enclosed and Class 1 as sold. Its exhaust is a small built-in fan pushing through a fixed plastic elbow. Every enclosed desktop laser we've looked at works the same way: the fan has to keep the chamber below room pressure, and the lid seams are left open on purpose so make-up air can get in. When the duct run is long, bent or restricted, or a purifier is added, the pressure flips and smoke comes out at the seams. Then the job ends, you lift the lid, and the plume that was still in the chamber rises past your face.
The Clearview supplemental enclosure sets over the whole X1. Its own 4" exhaust sits where the smoke goes, and the machine's exhaust passes straight through the back wall. Leaked smoke stays inside the second box instead of the room. A rear-hinged hood lifts before the X1's lid does, so the end-of-job plume goes up into the duct and not into your face. CNC-cut in California.
Four reasons to enclose it
Smoke that gets out of the X1's lid, elbow or underside ends up inside the outer enclosure, and the exhaust carries it out of the box.
With the 4" exhaust pulling 150 CFM or more, the air around the machine changes about every two seconds. Give it 60 seconds after the job, then lift the hood.
Run the X1's hose and the enclosure's outlet into one wye and one inline fan at the end of the run. Both chambers then sit below room pressure, and that's the condition that stops a seam leak.
A second wall of acrylic takes the edge off fan and air-assist noise. Soot settles on panels you can wipe, not on the shop.
This is fume containment. It does not change the X1's laser classification. The X1's own lid is the laser barrier, and the outer panels are standard acrylic, not a laser-rated product. Conveyor use and UV-source alignment carry xTool's own Class 4 and Class 3B guidance whether this enclosure is fitted or not. If your site needs a certified Class 1 envelope, see the WorkSafe line.
Will it fit?
1,076 × 707 × 471 mm
STANDARD INTERIOR W × D × H · 42.4" × 27.8" × 18.5"
| Version | Interior (W × D × H) | Clearance around the X1 |
|---|---|---|
| Standard: 55 W CO2 or CO2 + 20 W diode galvo | 42.4" × 27.8" × 18.5" | 1.5" each side, 1" front, 4" behind for the exhaust elbow and hose, 2" over the lid |
| Rear source pack: 30 W fiber, 60 W MOPA or 5 W UV fitted | 42.4" × 34.4" × 18.5" | Same clearances, measured from the back of the source pack |
xTool lists the X1 at 1,000 × 580 × 420 mm (39.4" × 22.8" × 16.5"). Measure your own machine front to back, including the lid's front lip, the exhaust elbow and any rear source pack. Standard fits up to 22.8" deep. The rear source pack version fits up to 29.4". Send us a photo of the tape and we'll confirm the fit before it ships.
Who it's built for
Production runs, metal marking, client work and serialized parts.
Students in a makerspace, staff at the next bench, or family on the other side of the wall.
A classroom with no window, a shared shop, a studio that answers to a landlord or a safety review.
Fortune 500 companies, government labs and top universities run Clearview enclosures. So do physicians, attorneys, executives and senior engineers.
If your shop or lab answers to a safety review, the five-document Safety Documentation Pack is written for exactly that conversation.
The xTool X1 Supplemental Enclosure by Clearview Plastics is a set-over fume enclosure for the xTool X1. It puts a second barrier around the machine, adds a 4" exhaust at the top rear, passes the X1's own exhaust through the back wall, and opens on a rear-hinged hood so the X1's lid can lift underneath it.
The images are renders of our Extended Laser Engraver Enclosure in amber and smoked panels. They show the construction, brackets, fit and finish the X1 version shares. They are not a render of the X1 version itself. The X1 version is built to the dimensions on this page, ships in clear acrylic as standard, and adds the rear-hinged hood, rear service panel and exhaust pass-through described below. Amber or smoked panels are available on request; ask in the quote form.
X1s are just reaching owners, and we build around real machines. Use the notify-me button and we'll let you know when it's ready, or send the quote form with your configuration (source pack or not, stand or bench, exhaust plan). Schools, labs and makerspaces buying on a PO: the quote form is the way in. Institutional orders set the build order.

The X1 is already enclosed. Why add another box?
The X1's enclosure is a laser barrier. It isn't airtight, and it isn't meant to be. It relies on a small fan to keep smoke moving the right way. If your exhaust is strong, short and sealed, you may not need this. Fix that first. If you can't, or you share the air with other people, the second box catches what gets out.
Will the X1's lid hit the enclosure?
No. There's 2" over the closed lid, and you lift the outer hood before you open the X1. With the hood up, the X1's lid opens all the way.
Do I still need the X1's own exhaust?
Yes. The X1's fan clears its own chamber. Route its hose through the pass-through, ideally into the same wye and inline fan as the enclosure outlet.
Will it overheat the X1?
The low make-up vents feed the X1 room air, and the exhaust carries heat out with the smoke. Keep the vents open and the exhaust running whenever the X1 is on.
Does this make my laser Class 1?
The X1 is Class 1 as sold, and this enclosure doesn't change that in either direction. Conveyor use and UV alignment carry xTool's own Class 4 and 3B guidance.
What's your return policy?
30 days. Unused, undamaged panels with the masking fully attached get a full refund, less return shipping. Damaged or unmasked panels can't be refunded.
